MOTION DESIGNER/EDITOR

We are looking for an experienced MOTION DESIGNER/EDITOR to work with our young, dynamic and ideas-driven team of filmmakers, writers and designers. You are ideas-driven, and want to deliver a story visually through the language of stylish 2d motion design (3d sparingly), manipulating photos, footage, data, historical documents, maps, etc. for mini-documentaries, longform, explainers, short form series and one-off pieces.


We will cover a wide range of topics/niches/styles important to Chinese youth culture, diaspora and the Pan-Asian conversation, think Vox Explainers with an emphasis on communicating cultural trends, history and events in a fun, engaging way. We also want your help establishing some design standards for different series for a cohesive style and voice.


● Motion Design experience (After Effects, Davinci Resolve’s Fusion, Illustrator, Photoshop, anything else you think would increase quality or efficiency for cool visuals)

● Video Editing experience (Resolve, Premiere)

● Prioritize work and be able to balance multiple projects with competing timelines, giving realistic expectations for how much each video or series can be enhanced with motion design and more stylish editing

● Conceptual Thinker: visualize scripts and briefs into storyboard concepts, thumbnails and cohesive themes

● Curious - drawn to learning new techniques and software and comfortable trying new styles to help enhance concepts

● Design and animate a variety of content - demo, explainer, social post, advertisement, etc.


Candidates should have a strong desire to carry out RADII’s mission of creating new bridges of cultural understanding via original, incisive, and youthful reporting on today’s China.


Duties include:


a.) The first role is to pitch and create motion design concepts, transitions, textures, styles according to in-house brief or established series creative requirements.


b.) The second role is to be able to edit video content for RADII’s in-house video team, to edit videos that tell inspiring stories through the art of a well-cut film. This may include editing existing video footage, newly-shot footage or video footage from various sources for reposting.


c.) Work with Creative Director/Executive Producer/Producers/Video Creatives


d.) To design, animate stylish motion design and edit final videos, for use by RADII’s Editorial Department, Social Media Platforms, Digital Platforms, RADII’s home-site, events or in Sponsored Content


e.) To support all in-house video productions, as well as external video productions with creative vision.


f.) To have a strong artistic eye for visual composition and a knack for film artistry.


g.) To ensure motion design and editing tasks are delivered on time


h.) To carry through post-production duties such as (not limited to) motion design, editing video, syncing audio, subtitling, title applications.


i.) To understand that all video production outputs are for mass broadcast media, such as (not limited to) digital/social media platforms or commercial mass-media


j.) To ensure that video projects are delivered on budget, on schedule and on-brief



REQUIREMENTS:


• Proficiency in e After Effects, Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator. Huge plus if you are familiar with Davinci Resolve or node-based workflow in Fusion.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced production environment

• Narrative or documentary-style video experience is a plus

• Up to date with industry trends and possessing of a keen understanding of RADII’s brand visuals to incorporate the two, creating attractive video assets

• At least 3 years work experience in a related field

• Proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese

• A portfolio with past work
