china.wav MIX: The Boring Room’s DJ Gunknown

DJ Gunknown is based in the ancient Chinese city, Xi’an. In 2015, he co-founded The Boring Room with RVE and Cash Lee, in an effort to bring the vibrant club culture and underground events that they were attending in Beijing and Shanghai to Xi’an. Since then The Boring Room has become an outpost for underground electronic music in the city, collaborating with the likes of Genome 6.66mbp from Shanghai, S!LK from Beijing and many more.

DJ Gunknown himself is embedded in both national electronic circles, as well as Xi’an’s vibrant hip hop scene, known for his work with local label NOUS Underground, led by “the pride of Xi’an” PACT. Gunknown and The Boring Room link up with RADII for the third in our china.wav mix series, blending psychedelic Chinese rock music from the likes of Sleeping Dogs, Israeli funk from Cali Wood and Australian garage rock.
