Chongqing-born Postunk started DJing in 2017. In just four short years, he has made a name for himself on local circles and founded a nightclub in Chengdu called Cue.
Over time, Postunk honed his skills and fleshed out his musical preferences, which he says were previously extreme, combining a love for music that is very mainstream and music that is far more obscure. Throughout this process, he has become an integral part of the scene in Chengdu, the capital of Southwest China’s Sichuan province.
Speaking about how the Chengdu clubbing scene is developing, he tells us, “Although most of the nightclub market in Chengdu is occupied by traditional EDM clubs, there are still many niche clubs with different styles in the market.”

His own club, Cue, stemmed from a series of parties. Postunk tells us, “Cue was established at the end of 2019 and originated from a series of parties we did. We play many types of music, never limited, so it’s not just party music. Now there are experimental noises, synthesizer jams, and we have ‘Ambient Night’ every week.”
This month, he joins us with a mix of spacy techno that he recorded at Lightning, a club in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.
He’s put together a mix of exciting producers, like Montreal-based Priori, Greek producer Morah and more, crossing multiple borders and genres.
