An evening of transgressive art, music, and performance with two distinctive groups from the bowels of Shanghai's creative underground

RADII’s next FREE live music event at ALL goes down on Tuesday, November 19, when we invite two difficult-to-describe units from the bowels of the Shanghai creative underground to do their thing, which is…

Firstly, BurgerSuicideClub, a band, kind of? They have a guitar and instruments, and they also have: props, masks, stage design, elaborately scripted poems, a sound blending abrasive rock and grinding industrial, a distinctively witchy element, an overall killer vibe. They’ve popped up at venues across Shanghai including crucial rock’n’roll dive Yuyintang and carefully curated performance space Extra Time, and will join us at ALL for something different from the venue’s usual fare.

Also materializing on the night is TIAN TUAN, a performance project by artists Sandancunren, Xuandi and Xindi. Past TIAN TUAN productions have included: Future Baby, a series of audiovisual performances and installations exploring themes like “life, feminism, and evolution,” aiming to create “an absurd, dystopian future ecosystem to reflect present social phenomena”; Fast=Fashion?, a performance about fashion and environmental protection, industrial materials, and cotton’s destiny — “weaving — dyeing — clothing — wearing — disposal.”

Their performance at RADII’s china.wav event at ALL is being described to us as a “Heavenly Kingdom Flag-Raising Ceremony,” and will involve elements of next-level 3D design, animation and live performance.

The performances will be followed by a DJ set from RADII highlighting some of our favorite experimental Chinese music from 2019. Come party at our last china.wav event for the year!
