Compared to the exhausting and time-consuming traditional way of finding a date, online dating apps open another door. In such a fast-paced society, we no longer need to stand in a club for hours to fish out a suitable partner or be forced to attend unpredictable and awkward blind dates. A few swipes on Tinder (or more likely in China, TanTan) can solve it all. It seems like the perfect solution.
But is this really true?
Today, we talk to Sunny Sun (pictured right), a co-host of Chinese podcast 哼哈二酱 Hengha Erjiang and an experienced user of online dating apps, “in the name of research”, of course. She shares with us her observations on the difference between English- and Chinese-language dating apps and her personal experiences on how she got into a relationship with an undercover FBI source via Tinder.
