From Coachella to the latest music video Gala, Windowsen’s avant-garde designs amplify XG’s Y3K-meets-sci-fi aesthetic.

Remember the stylish Japanese girl group XG’s performance at the Strawberry Music Festival? Well, last week they released their latest album GALA, and once again they appeared in custom looks from a Chinese designer.

In the music video for the album’s eponymous track “GALA,” member Maya is seen wearing an eye-catching, high-saturated blue dress with a dramatic silhouette. Anyone who’s been following XG’s style sensibility closely will have recognized the look as a creation from Chinese designer Sensen Lii’s brand: Windowsen.

However, the pieces featured in “GALA” are not the first collaboration between Windowsen and XG. Earlier this year at Coachella, the entire group wore Windowsen’s colorful, otherworldly costumes. With exaggerated silhouettes, striking textures, and member Chisa’s face heat-transferred onto a dress, the looks couldn’t have been more perfectly suited to XG’s bold stage presence.

As for the label’s name, Windowsen, it originates from Microsoft’s Windows OS, reflecting designer Sensen’s playful, sci-fi-inspired vision. His avant-garde imagination often pushes fashion into the alien-esque and sporty. Fans have praised his partnership with XG, saying he truly captures the power of these “extraordinary girls.”

Today, Windowsen has emerged as a visible brand among global celebrities. Beyond XG, pop icons like Katy Perry, Charli XCX, and FKA twigs have also embraced Sensen’s creations. His work adapts seamlessly to different styles while maintaining his whimsical aesthetic. So, what’s next for the collaboration between XG and Windowsen? We’ll be watching closely—and eagerly.
