Before Daniel Wu was throwing punches on the silver screen in Hong Kong cinema or breaking hearts in Hollywood, he was pulling all-nighters in a design studio. A proud graduate of the University of Oregon’s architecture program, the Chinese-American actor has never kept his passion for design a secret. Now, Wu is returning to his roots, announcing his latest venture: AROX Furniture.

Taking to Instagram, Wu revealed that he’s been quietly building a massive lifestyle and design portfolio in the Chinese mainland over the last few years. Moving beyond the entertainment industry, his entrepreneurial empire already includes the design consultancy firm Zuhaus, the trendy spot Whatever Coffee, and the Yashi English Academy. AROX Furniture marks his exciting foray into product design.

For AROX’s inaugural drop, Wu has partnered with MOYU, a popular mainland manufacturer, to bring his long-time vision to life: The Ancor (Máu) sofa. “I have studied sofa design for many years, and it feels amazing to have finally created my first one,” Wu shared with his followers.

This latest move bridges the gap between his fan-beloved onscreen cool factor and his real-life obsession with spatial aesthetics. With the Ancor sofa poised to release in China soon, fans and design enthusiasts alike can finally bring a piece of Daniel Wu‘s creative vision into their living rooms.
