In a move that screams “we’re not just following trends, we’re creating them,” Huawei unveiled its first-ever foldable laptop, the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design. This isn’t just another laptop—it’s an 18-inch OLED behemoth that folds down to a 13-inch form factor, basically giving you a portable desktop when you need it.

The engineering is frankly ridiculous. At just 7.3mm unfolded (14.9mm folded), it’s thinner than your average Netflix true crime documentary plot. Huawei is flexing hard by calling it “the world’s lightest commercial foldable laptop” while simultaneously housing “the largest commercial foldable-screen device” on the market.

What’s really interesting is that this beast runs on HarmonyOS Next—Huawei’s homegrown operating system—not Windows. In the ongoing tech cold war, this represents Huawei’s middle finger to Western dependencies, essentially saying “we can build our own shit, thank you very much.” The catch? It costs a whopping 23,999 RMB (approximately $3,324 USD).
