If you’ve been following RADII’s City Guides social series, you might remember our feature on the multi-talented artist formerly known as Jungle Butterfly. Today, she’s shed that alter ego, reintroducing herself simply as Siyan (刘思言)—a name that signals a profound return to her roots.
Siyan’s musical evolution has always been an unpredictable journey. From delivering ethereal English vocals to spitting rapid-fire rap in her native Chongqing dialect, and even flawlessly flipping a Fred again.. track into dreamcore soft singing, she consistently defies categorization. Her signature sound is a chaotic yet nostalgic blend that keeps her audience guessing what she’ll do next.
With her latest EP, Peel The Skin 蜕, Siyan takes us back to the mountain city of Chongqing. Returning to her hometown has added a deeply personal dimension to her artistry. The music video for the project’s title track, “蜕” (meaning to molt or shed), perfectly captures this vibe.
Rather than a high-production spectacle, the video is a sweet, intimate hangout with her family on a random afternoon. It’s a joy to watch Siyan grow as an artist, adding a newfound, warm tone to her voice that perfectly complements the energetic girl we’ve always known.
