Halloween is just around the corner, and we’re excited. To get you in the mood for one of the spookiest days of the year, we’ve put together an equally spooky playlist including some downright scary tracks.
We kick things off with Beijing garage outfit The Molds and their rambling, downbeat number “Dancing with the Dead Lover,” which comes equipped with some apt yelping. Quickly moving forward, this is followed by some of China’s best experimental electronic musicians, with Zaliva-D, 33EMYBW, Yikii, Hyph11E, Faded Ghost and Guan contributing to a general air of confusion and disorientation with some insidious beats that reference Frankenstein, faeries and ghosts.
Proceedings get a little bit lighter with the introduction of Vava and Chace around the midpoint with their track “Man in a Ghost Town,” while the playful “Zombie” from Higher Brothers and Rich Brian makes use of a nice jagged scream to accompany the group’s lyrics as the backdrop through the extent of the song.

From there on out we’ve got unadulterated indie and rock music. Idiosyncratic rockers Re-TROS reference Bela Lugosi, the man best known for playing Count Dracula back in the 1930s, while black metal icons Zuriaake’s terrifying “Evil Spirit” brings the intensity of this humble little playlist to 100.
