At just under 30 minutes, this mix draws from a range of styles and artists in East and Southeast Asia. Some of our favorite Chinese artists, like Beijing emo rapper Bloodz Boi, as well as legendary Chinese producers Howie Lee and Alex Wang are represented, while the group also shine a light on underground music out of Japan, and from Diaspora communities around the globe.
We get a delightfully melodic and abrasive mix of Howie Lee’s “Tomorrow Cannot Be Waited” from Anti-General to kick things off, before moving into an intimidatingly vocal collaboration by Jamaican English producer Harikiri and Bloodz Boi and onto the mesmeric “Next Phase” by Hong Kong producer Mr Ho.
Eastern Margins is a London based music label that gives a platform to artists from East and Southeast Asia. Founded in 2018, they’ve transformed from being a party organizer to now releasing eclectic Asian music as a label, with their second release by QQBBG dropping earlier this month.
