Asian’s most talented female basketball players have descended on the Middle Eastern nation of Jordan for the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2021, and the China squad is absolutely killing it. On Tuesday, September 28, China dominated Chinese Taipei (aka Taiwan) to win by a large margin — 124-50.
Han Xu was Team China’s top performer during Tuesday’s game with 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Meanwhile, Chinese center Li Yueru netted an impressive 20 points.
It was China’s second win during the tournament’s group phase. On September 27, Team China swept the floor with the Philippines, tallying 143 points against the Philippines’ 52.
China currently leads the tournament’s Group B alongside Australia, which has also won two games. The group leaders will hit the court tonight, September 29, at 9 PM China Standard Time.
Tournament participants are broken into two groups, with Japan, India, Korea, and New Zealand making up Group A, and China, Australia, Chinese Taipei, and the Philippines comprising Group B.
Of the eight participating teams, the women from China lead the pack with an average of 133.5 points per game and a total of 267 points so far. Japan is in a distant second with 99 points per game on average and a total of 198 points.
Group winners will proceed directly to the semifinals on October 2.
