RADII is back in Shanghai—and apparently, so is everyone else. At the end of May, RADII teamed up with Junto, the Jing’an-based community space and bar that has become one of the city’s go-to hubs for creatives. From this partnership, ‘A Break from Being Creative’ was born—a happy hour mixer that did exactly what the name promised. No pitches, small talk, or cookie-cutter networking and the like. The community showed up, cracked a cold one (perhaps even one of our… special brews, ‘RADII Flow State’), and gave us all of their energy—or whatever was left of it after a long week.

The night drew hundreds of attendees from across industries, with thanks to the support of Shanghai Filmmakers Alliance (S.F.A.) also amongst the mix. Old friendships were rekindled over Junto’s craft beers and new ones were struck up between strangers who, by the end of the night, didn’t feel much like strangers anymore.

It had been around half a year since RADII last hosted an event in Shanghai—too long, frankly. But if the turnout and energy at Junto this time around said anything, it’s that the appetite is surely there. The city’s creative class is alive, restless, and very much looking for spaces to find one another in. That’s where we come (back) in!

This event certainly won’t be the last one—that’s a promise. RADII is committing to more events in Shanghai every few months, and if this is any indication of what’s coming, you’ll want to stay in the loop.
