We never thought we’d see a laptop company walk the runway at a fashion show, but here we are. During the SS2027 Beijing Fashion Week, tech heavyweights ASUS and Intel shattered expectations by making their unprecedented catwalk debut. Partnering with independent designer Wang Dong, founder of the contemporary brand WOAVE, they showcased a custom runway collection themed “A Light Within” (光耀新生).

The collaboration seamlessly wove the aesthetics of high-end consumer tech into contemporary fashion. Models strutted down the runway holding the new ASUS Zenbook 14 2026 AI ultra-thin laptop, merging the tactile feel of natural fabrics with the laptop’s sleek “high-tech ceramic aluminum” finish. It was a visually arresting dialogue between traditional craftsmanship—which Wang Dong emphasizes through weaving, splicing, and non-heritage handcrafts—and cutting-edge AI hardware.

But why did a laptop brand feel the need to conquer a fashion week? It points to a broader cultural shift among global youth and Gen Z. Gadgets are no longer just utilitarian tools for productivity; they are statement pieces, status symbols, and lifestyle extensions. The Zenbook’s ultra-light 1.2kg chassis, nature-inspired colorways, and its integration of the third-gen Intel Core Ultra 7 processor represent the “invisible” power driving today’s modern creative class.

By placing AI PCs on the runway, ASUS and Intel proved that technology can embody the same luxurious, minimalist aesthetic expected from haute couture. Tech is officially donning designer labels, and if this Beijing Fashion Week debut is any indication, our everyday gadgets are about to get a whole lot more fashionable.
