Three years after the debut of dystopian workplace thriller Severance, the second season is finally here in full swing. In the continuation of the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series, a roster of new characters has emerged — but one in particular is capturing the audience’s attention with her unsettling presence and authority: Miss Huang, portrayed by the 18-year-old Sarah Brock.
Despite sharing screens with veterans like Adam Scott and John Turturro, Brock delivers a performance that has left a lasting impression on both fans and critics alike.
Sarah Brock’s journey into the world of acting began at the tender age of five, with her first role in a children’s production of Winnie the Pooh. A pivotal moment came at age eight when she watched Matilda on Broadway, inspiring her to pursue acting more seriously. By twelve, she made her professional debut in Annie the Musical, marking her entry into the professional theater scene.
The opportunity to join Severance came when Brock was just fifteen. Reflecting on her audition, she shared, “I thought the audition went terribly and was convinced I wouldn’t get the part. But then I got the call and had two weeks to move to New York.”
In Severance, Miss Huang serves as the Deputy Manager of the Severed floor, working directly under her supervisor, Mr. Milchick. Despite her youthful appearance, she exudes an intimidating presence, exemplified in scenes where she asserts control over senior employees. Brock describes her character as “blunt, reserved, [with a] major superiority complex.”
The introduction of Miss Huang has added a new layer of intrigue to Severance‘s complex narrative. Critics have lauded the show’s second season for its expanded scope and deeper exploration of its characters.
